Social approach: "Palabras, nada más"

"When I came back to Peru, my first play that year was a project with great social value. It involved being part of putting on stage three short-plays to raise awareness about violence, discrimination and sexism that affects women and girls in Peru every day".

"Relatos por los derechos de las mujeres y las niñas" was a project created by the NGO "Action for the Children" in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada in Peru. Actresses Su Hananel and Masha Chávarry acted together in "Puff!" (which was translated in Spanish as "Palabras, nada más") from the american playwright Lynn Nottage.

The opening was held in Casa de la Creatividad and the revenue went to the production of these plays in a local comunity in Villa El Salvador, followed by a talk between actors and members of audience to share their experiences around sexism, violence and discrimination.

"I want to thank both organizations for thinking of art as the best way to talk about important issues that we need to address as a society. Thank you for trusting us to tell a story with the power to touch people's hearts and minds. Being able to participate in this kind of causes is what drives me and motivates me to be part of this industry".
